Reselling used items online is a great secondary source of income. A lot of people work a full time job during the day and spend a few evenings a week working online creating listings and packing up and shipping the items that have already sold. If you're considering online sales as a source of income and have limited space to work with, you'll need to get a little creative with how you do things. Find a 24-Hour Storage Facility

The very first thing to do is look for a storage facility that is accessible 24 hours a day. Since you'll be working after normal business hours, it's important to know that you'll be able to access your inventory whenever you have the time to get there for whatever you need.

Try to find a storage facility that is close to your home or along a route that you take to your day job. This way, you won't have to go out of your way and you can just swing in before or after work when you need to.

Tip: Make sure to keep a copy of the list of restricted items on hand. This will show you what's not allowed to be stored in the unit for the safety of the facility.

Create an Inventory Log

Before you start filling the storage unit with inventory, you need to create an inventory log. Every item that you list for sale must have an inventory number. This might not seem like it's that important when you're first starting out, but once you have a good about of inventory waiting to sell, you'll be thankful that you kept track of everything from the start.

As you give an item an inventory number, put it in a numbered or labeled bin. Note the bin number on the inventory log—then, when you sell the item, you just have to find the bin number and the item inside—you won't have to blindly dig through several bins before finding what you're looking for.

Store It Off the Ground

One final thing to do to get your storage unit ready for your inventory is to place shelving inside. If you're planning on storing bins in stacks rather than on shelves, place wooden pallets on the floor of the unit before putting the bins down. This will reduce the chances of moisture wicking up out of the concrete into the inventory inside the bin.
